Tuesday Afternoon Quickie - Hair
Just dropping in to say hello and to post mainly about my hair. Today, I actually LOVE it!
I'm still in that awkward stage and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it. I'm not really a twist/mini twist person. I'm not into braids and weaves much anymore. I'm really in love with just wearing it out, but it seems to never want to behave all day. Through humidity, dryness, rain, sleet to sunny days, my hair just will not hold a braid out or twist out or bantu knot out. *sigh*
I managed to get up and dressed early enough to snap some pics this morning and catch my hair before it started acting all shady.
This is a flat twist out. Done by spritzing my hair with a little Jane Carter spray conditioner, Cantu Shea moisture lotion, detangling and twisting the night before. I am really digging the way that it turned out. As I sit here and type though, 7 hours later, I'm curious as to whether or not I still look like I do in these photos.
Have you ever gotten dressed or done your hair, left your house only to walk past a mirror or glass store front a few hours later and think daaayyyum! Like I know I fixed myself up better than this before I left! LOL
Oh well, it happens. Hoping for the best!
What are you doing to cope with or handle your natural hair during this summer? I'd really like to box braid it up, just to save time and protect it, but I just can't seem to bring myself to do it.
Any suggestions on something quick and easy that might work?

YOur hair is gorgeous! I love this outfit too! The jean jacket adds the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI think the box braid would look cute on you. I'm not natural but I'm trying a few "natural" like styles. If I had enough hair in the back I'd get box braids myself.
ReplyDeleteAs for your outfit I think you look fine.
Thank you Inez! I really like how your flexi rod sets have been coming out!!
DeleteYour hair looks fine, but as a man I might not see what you are witnessing. Reminds me of the old Lauryn Hill-styled natural hair which was cool, calm, collected.
ReplyDeleteYou hair looks great. box braids are cute but I'm not a fan of braids, since it's so hot you might be better off twisting your own hair and wear pin updos style I've seen some very cute one.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 freinds who recently braided their hair only to cut it up days later because it's too hot lol
lol, i hope your friends didnt pay for them! I braided my hair a few months ago for the first time ever, and love it. I can do updo styles on others but cant seem to get it right for myself :-(
ReplyDeletethank you, btw. And thank you for reading and commenting!!

ReplyDeleteThank you Inez! I absolutely love your hair, both styled in the pixie and the rod sets you've been doing!!

DeleteI agree with the cuteness factor of your hair, it looks great! Natural hair is a work in progress though, I'm still experimenting and trying new things! Try K is for Kinky and Black Girl with Long Hair for style tips and ideas!

I've grown to love my puffs! Gotta go with what ya' know!
DeleteYour hair looks great! I need to cut my hair so it has more of a shape when I do twist-outs.
ReplyDeleteCarmesha, I didn't cut it, I just kind of "smooshed" the sides to create a shape. LOL. No more cutting for me.
